Cross Finger Flap with Full Thickness Skin Wrap

A male patient presented with a traumatic volar thumb-tip avulsion involving loss of pulp coverage and exposure of the distal phalanx. Radiographs showed no significant bony loss or fracture. The nail plate was lost, although the nail bed remained intact. Because exposed bone precluded primary closure or healing by secondary intention, flap coverage was required to preserve thumb length.
